100 small things…
Managing culture is about closing gaps between current and desired behavior and then maintaining minimum gaps. For any change in behavior to be sustainable it is essential that leaders work on the level of underlying beliefs, perceptions if you will. This is painstaking but rewarding work and involves what we call storytelling i.e. doing 100 small things…doing them often…and consistently and with deliberate intent. Our advice is to avoid looking for the one big thing that will transform your culture; there is no magic elixir. It is the 100 small things that truly shape perceptions and result in sustainable changes in behavior.
